"I'm sorry about that. We'll look into it."

I have heard this sentence in hotels, on aircraft, in restaurants. Said with good intention every single time. And almost every time, it leaves the guest exactly where they were. Unresolved. Waiting. Unsure whether anything will actually happen.

The problem is not the apology. The problem is that the sentence ends there.

A stronger recovery moves. It names what happened, shows the guest their experience was understood, and offers one clear next step. Not a vague promise. Not a referral to a manager who may or may not follow up.

Take that sentence today and rebuild it. What actually happened in the moment? Why did it matter to that particular guest? And what can your team member do right now? Not later, not after checking. Right now.

The goal is not a longer script. The goal is a better next move.

Write your version. Then read it out loud. If it sounds like something a human would genuinely say, you are close.
